CernySmith is a research, development, testing, and training organization that focuses on developing materials and services to support international coaches, organizations, and personnel living and working in cross-cultural settings.
CernySmith.com is an online testing center for CernySmith Assessments (CSA). CSA assessments are designed to screen and evaluate the cross-cultural well-being of international workers, students, and families. The assessment is available in 5 versions:
- CSA-B, Business
- CSA-D, Diplomat
- CSA-M, Military
- CSA-N, Non-profit
- CSA-S, Student
CernySmith products are sold exclusively through an elite network of Authorized Distributors who train and certify coaches to purchase, administer, and interpret CernySmith online assessments for their cross-cultural clients. For more information on how to become a CSA certified coach and to locate an Authorized Distributor, select 'Distributors' from the menu.

to adjust and excel abroadHistory: CernySmith was founded in 1987 by Clinical and Consulting Psychologists, Drs. Leonard J. Cerny II and David S. Smith.

In 1992, Dr Cerny and Dr. Smith began providing international consultation and coaching services to cross-cultural organizations, work teams, and families. With the help of their colleagues, they have conducted workshops and coached teams in over 30 different countries including North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Since 2001, they have pioneered the research and development of the CernySmith Adjustment Index (CSA). The CSA is the first highly researched, reliable, accurate tool for screening and evaluating cross-cultural adjustment.

About Cerny And Smith
David S. Smith, Ph. D.
 David S. Smith, Ph. D. is a Clinical Psychologist who has been in private practice in the Southern California area of the United States since 1987. Dr. Smith graduated from Taylor University in 1980. He holds a masters degree from Denver Seminary and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Professional School of Psychology. Dr. Smith has taught at California State University Fullerton and sits on a number of boards for nonprofit civic and humanitarian organizations. He is a clinician, mentoring coach, and trainer who frequently provides workshops for coaches and other helping professions in using CSA assessments to evaluate and enhance cross-cultural adjustment.

Leonard J. Cerny II, Ph. D.
 Leonard J. Cerny II, Ph. D. is a Clinical Psychologist who has been in private practice in the Southern California area of the United States since 1978. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1967 and served as a Medical Service Corps officer in the United States Air Force. Dr. Cerny holds masters degrees from Chapman University and Rosemead School of Psychology. He received his Ph.D. from Rosemead School of Psychology in Clinical Psychology. He is a clinician, mentoring coach, researcher, and trainer who frequently provides international workshops on the adjustment and effectiveness of cross-cultural workers, families, teams, and organizations.
